Moms, avoid these and protect your children

Dec 17

NOTHING trumps a mother’s natural intution to protect her children.  With that thought in mind, I strongly suggest that every mother in America research the concept of GMO’s (Genetically Modified Organisms) in our food supply, and how it can impact the health of those who ingest them on a continual basis.  GMO’s were first introduced into our food supply in the mid 1990’s.  If you overlap the amount of GMO corn and soy that was produced by farmers that entered our food supply by year since their introduction with the amount of incidences of cancer, diabetes, autism, auto immune issues, digestive disorders, and many others, the coincidences are too strong to ignore. Any long term health studies on how these effect humans were purposely avoided by the companies that introduced them because they knew that the results would prohibit them from ever reaching the market.  The fact that the FDA who approved them for consumption is led by people hand picked from the industry who introduced them should tell you that they are not looking out for our best interests.  This has essentially made us all guinea pigs for nearly two decades.  The results are coming in and they’re not pretty. America is the sickest industrialized nation on the planet.  We make up 5% of the planets population and we ingest 50% of its pharmaceutical drugs.  Our annual spend on healthcare is approximately 2.7 trillion dollars.  Nearly everyone is effected by a friend or family member dealing with cancer.  My wife and my son are on that list.   The time for people to wake up is now before it becomes your family’s turn.  I have spent the last year researching causes of illness, and while there are a number of factors, what’s in our food is the most obvious and impactful.  After learning the facts, my entire family has been GMO free for nearly a year now and we will NEVER go back. Up until recently, only a handful of outspoken advocates on the matter such as myself have been imploring people to do their own research and come to their own conclusions.  The “mainstream media” would never touch this, which kept the subject in the dark for...

My Christmas Wish to You, Stay Healthy!

Dec 11

It’s been a tough and eye opening year for our family to say the least.  Having a wife diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer is enough to turn things upside down, but when your child is hit with a brain tumor, your life is changed forever.  I’ve spent the last year researching everything that I can do to assist them with staying healthy while battling chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, which can take a huge toll on your body’s immune system.  One of the main things I’ve learned is that without your health, nothing else seems to matter.  I’ve also learned that the food that we eat can either help or hurt that process, and can also play a part in developing illness and disease.   Much of our time is now spent in doctor’s offices and hospitals and we see some heart wrenching things in the process.  The sheer amount of disease and the young people falling prey to it is tragic.  Seeing these things first hand and facing it ourselves has motivated us to want to make a difference in the fight.  There’s an old folk tale that if you throw a frog into a boiling pot of water he will quickly jump out.  But if you put the frog into lukewarm water and raise the temperature very slowly, he won’t notice until he has cooked to death without ever waking up.  My research on what’s happened to our country’s food supply over the last century reminds me of this saying.  We have not only caused our produce (the good stuff) to become less nutritious over that time, but we have also introduced things which are toxic to us when eaten over long periods of time, and this has manifested itself as a long list of illnesses and diseases that are becoming more and more prevalent.   Our family was forced to learn these things because of the unfortunate situation that we found ourselves in.  Before that, we were busy with all of the “normal” things that families occupy themselves with, and I never had any need or desire to learn about these things, but facing these deadly diseases changed all of that.  We have now eliminated many...

Reasons why Okinawans live to be older than 100

Dec 05

I read a post at naturalsociety.com that shared how many Okinawans live to be older than 100 years of age.  Here is a list of the main factors that put their society ahead of all others when it comes to longevity: 1. Elderly Okinawans exercise both mentally and physically very often. 2. Their diets are low in salt and high inorganic  fruits and vegetables.  This protects against heart attacks and cancer. 3. They consume more soy (not genetically modified like here in the U.S.) than any other society which is high in flavanoids. 4. They don’t overeat.  They average 1800 calories per day where many Americans can easily double that. 5. Their diet is very high in vitamin E which strengthens the brain and fights off senility, and dementia. 6. Elderly Okinawans are respected in their communities and express a high level of satisfaction. One thing that jumped out at me is a complete lack of genetically modified and processed food in their diets as well.  The bottom line is that eating more whole and organic foods and avoiding genetically modified and processed foods will lead to a a longer, more satisfying life.  If you don’t believe that, check out this video that highlights a woman over 90 years old that climbs trees to pick fruit in her orchard all...

Great Way to De-stress!

Dec 03

Stress is a natural part of life, but with our seemingly never-ending hectic lifestyles, we are more stressed out than ever! There are various techniques you can use to relieve stress, such as yoga, meditation, acupuncture, and more. You may want to try several methods of de-stressing to find a method you feel most comfortable with. What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese healing art that involves inserting fine needles at very precise pressure points throughout the body. The needles stimulate the body’s natural healing processes in its energy system. How Does It Work? Acupuncturists believe that energy flows through the body system through channels called meridians. This energy is referred to as Qi or Chi. Stress causes an imbalance in the body’s energy and causes it to flow improperly. The Qi can become blocked and stagnant. It must be unblocked and flow freely in order to restore harmonious balance to the body. By stimulating the proper acupressure points, the Qi can flow freely, thereby alleviating stress induced mental and physical symptoms. Is It Safe? Acupuncture is perfectly safe when performed by a licensed practitioner. Acupuncturists are trained in the proper methods of treatment and all instruments are sterilized to prevent any risk of infection. The Food and Drug Administration approved non-toxic needles made for single use application just for use in acupuncture treatments. The majority of people who undergo acupuncture feel no pain at all. A small percentage may feel very minimal pain. Bleeding rarely occurs. Health Benefits Acupuncture can relieve the physical symptoms of stress that tends to accumulate in the neck, shoulders, and back, causing pain and tension. Headaches are another physical complaint resulting from stress. People who are under high levels of stress often have high blood pressure. Acupuncture can relieve physical symptoms, such as tense muscles, and even help to lower blood pressure. Acupuncture leaves the body feeling calm and relaxed. An added benefit of acupuncture is that it improves the circulation of the blood throughout the body. Treatment Sessions A typical acupuncture session may last for 30 to 60 minutes. The patient will become very relaxed during the treatment and may even fall asleep. Regular acupuncture treatments can help strengthen your body so...
